Job Description:
Exciting opportunities exist for a Reclamation Specialist based out of our Edmonton office. The successful candidate(s) will be involved in various aspects of a variety of projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducting Detailed Site Assessments (DSA) and completion of reclamation applications on OneStop.
- Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and associated reporting.
- Conducting vegetation management, including but not limited to mechanical and chemical weed control, re-vegetation supervision, and minor reclamation activities.
- Assist with the planning, execution, and supervision of major reclamation activities, including on-site supervision, contractor management and cost tracking.
- Comply with Health and Safety policies and principles
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- A degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or other relevant Environmental Program with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Registration with a professional organization as either a professional or in-training.
- Competent in the field components of vegetation identification and soil assessments as well as reclamation procedures within the Oil and Gas Industry. Strong vegetation identification skills in prairie and forested ecosites would be considered an asset.
- Experience in soil and vegetation reclamation activities in cultivated and forested ecosites.
- Experience in soil and groundwater contaminated sites monitoring and remediation programs, would be considered an asset.
- Strong familiarity with ERCB Directives 50 and 58, Alberta Environment Reclamation Criteria (Green, White and Federal lands), Alberta Weed Act, Alberta Tier 1 and 2 Guidelines and CCME Guidelines.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and technical writing skills and be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and provide leadership.
- Experience working British Columbia and/or Saskatchewan, and familiarity with the applicable oil and gas regulations would be considered an asset.
