Job Description:

An exciting opportunity exists for Senior Environmental Manager in any our Alberta offices or surrounding areas (flexible work environment).

 

We are looking for a senior environmental expert to join our team as a Technical Specialist in Site Assessment and Remediation. The Technical Specialist is at the forefront of regulatory changes related to Phase 1, 2 and 3 site assessments/ investigations and the regulatory path to site closure.  The position will help drive innovation and technical quality through our organization.  As an expert in all aspects of site assessment and closure, this person brings scientific/technical mastery, sophisticated regulatory understanding, leadership skills, business acumen, and an entrepreneurial spirit along with a keen interest in growing and evolving the business, leading teams, and mentoring staff.

 

Supporting the company Operations Managers, the Senior Environmental Manager will:

  • Provide technical leadership and senior review for reports in the areas of environmental site assessments/ investigations, both large- and small-scale ex-situ remedial excavations, operation of in-situ remedial treatment systems, compliance auditing, groundwater treatment design, implementation and optimization and risk assessment.
  • Participates in corporate-wide technical governance and innovation initiatives and communicate regulatory changes or updates to staff.
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise by remaining involved in complex or specialized projects.
  • Mentor program/ project managers and other technical staff.
  • Building, maintaining and expanding strong relationships with clients, regulating agencies, and municipalities to facilitate successful delivery of projects and the maintenance of future/ongoing opportunities.
  • Promoting and maintaining a positive work environment through a culture of teamwork and cooperation within the office, region, and between other areas of the organization.
  • Provides leadership to our strategic initiative to grow contaminated site assessment and closure services across Western Canada, including marketing activities that communicate our technical excellence.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental liability management and the regulatory environment within Western Canada (AB, BC, SK).

  • Related technical qualifications including relevant undergraduate degree or masters in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or another related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience and have applicable professional designation in one or multiple Western Canadian provinces.
  • Expert understanding of contaminated sites regulatory requirements in Western Canada.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and training staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and technical writing skills.

SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER, Site Assessment, Remediation and Reclamation – CALGARY

Job Description:

An exciting opportunity exists for Senior Program Manager in our Calgary office.

The successful candidate will coordinate specific client’s reclamation and remediation portfolios and be involved in various aspects of a variety of projects.

Reporting to the Calgary Operations Managers, the Senior Program Manager will:

  • Coordinate, oversee and provide mentorship of junior to intermediate staff with respect to the completion of field work and reports for Pre-Disturbance Assessments, Detailed Site Assessments, Soil and Groundwater Monitoring Programs, Phase I, II and III ESAs for the oil & gas industry and commercial property transactions. Minimal field work maybe required for specialty projects, safety audits and staff training.
  • Provide technical leadership and review in the areas of environmental site investigations, both large- and small-scale ex-situ remedial excavations, operation of in-situ remedial treatment systems, compliance auditing, groundwater treatment design, implementation and optimization and risk assessment.
  • Review and submit Reclamation Certificate Applications.
  • Budget development for annual reclamation and remediation programs, tracking of project status and cost control for clients.
  • Review contractor invoices and keep client data management systems current.
  • Building, maintaining and expanding strong relationships with clients, regulating agencies, and municipalities to facilitate successful delivery of projects and the maintenance of future/ongoing opportunities.
  • Communicate regulatory changes or updates to staff and employees.
  • Understand and provide leadership with respect to TerraLogix’s and client’s Health and Safety Policies and OH&S procedures.
  • Promoting and maintaining a positive work environment through a culture of teamwork and cooperation within the office, region, and between other areas of the organization.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have previous experience in leading complex projects, and are a client focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced team-approach environment. You have a strong understanding of environmental liability management and the regulatory environment within BC and AB.

  • Related technical qualifications including relevant undergraduate degree or masters in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or another related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience and have applicable professional designation in BC and/or AB. Candidates who are not designated, but who are eligible, will also be considered.
  • Recognized as an expert in contaminated sites regulatory requirements in BC and/or AB, environmental investigations, and remediation with a dedication to and passion for your discipline and extensive management experience involving fully supervising multiple projects from beginning to end.
  • Strong knowledge and application of BC CSR and EMA, BC MoE Protocols, and OGC environmental management and liability requirements.
  • Strong familiarity with AER Directives 50 and 58, Alberta Environment Reclamation Criteria (Green, White and Federal lands), Alberta Tier 1 and 2 Guidelines and CCME guidelines.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and training staff.
  • Demonstrated track record of risk, financial and budget management.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and technical writing skills.

Remediation Specialist

Job Description:

Exciting opportunities exist for a Remediation Specialist based out of our Edmonton office. The successful candidate(s) will be involved in various aspects of a variety of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and associated reporting.
  • Conducting Phase 2 ESAs including but not limited to action plan development, supervision of drilling and soil & groundwater sampling activities, analytical interpretation, and technical report writing.
  • Assist with the planning, execution, and supervision of remediation programs, including on-site supervision, contractor management and cost tracking.
    • Experience with alternative remedial options including soil and groundwater treatment, Tier 2 implementation, and/or use of the Subsoil Salinity Tool would be considered an asset.
  • the ability to assist with or supervise the installation, development and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells is considered an asset.
  • Comply with Health and Safety policies and principles

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or other relevant Environmental Program with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Registration with a professional organization as either a professional or in-training.
  • Competent in the field components of soil and vegetation assessments as well as reclamation procedures within the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Experience in soil and vegetation reclamation activities in cultivated and forested ecosites would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in soil and groundwater contaminated sites monitoring and remediation programs.
  • Strong familiarity with ERCB Directives 50 and 58, Alberta Environment Reclamation Criteria (Green, White and Federal lands), Alberta Tier 1 and 2 Guidelines and CCME guidelines.

Job Description:

Exciting opportunities exist for Junior Project Manager/Hydrogeologist in our Calgary office. The successful candidate(s) will be involved in various aspects of a variety of projects.

Responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with designing and conducting Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, including drilling supervision, soil and groundwater characterization, and well design and installation.
• Conducting water sampling and field water quality analysis.
• Conducting aquifer testing (slug tests and pumping tests) and data analysis.
• Preparing technical reports including data analysis and interpretation, and providing conclusions and recommendations.
• Assisting with other work as required including the implementation of remediation and reclamation activities and conducting Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess:
• Undergraduate or Graduate degrees in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or other relevant program along with 1 to 3 years of experience;
• Experience with environmental site assessments, soil sampling, groundwater monitoring and site remediation;
• Registration with a professional organization as either a professional or in-training is desirable; and
• Strong interpersonal skills, English language communication skills, technical writing skills and the ability to work both as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and independently.
